### 1 Chronicles 27
1 NOW the children of Israel after their number, _to_ _wit_, the chief fathers and captains of thousands and hundreds, and their officers that served the king in any matter of the courses, which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year, of every course _were_ twenty-four thousand. ^1
2 Over the first course for the first month _was_ Jashobeam the son of Zabdiel: and in his course _were_ twenty-four thousand. ^2
3 Of the children of Perez _was_ the chief of all the captains of the host for the first month. ^3
4 And over the course of the second month _was_ Dodai an Ahohite, and of his course _was_ Mikloth also the ruler: in his course likewise _were_ twenty-four thousand. ^4
5 The third captain of the host for the third month _was_ Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, a chief priest: and in his course _were_ twenty-four thousand. ^5
6 This _is_ _that_ Benaiah, _who_ _was_ mighty _among_ the thirty, and above the thirty: and in his course _was_ Ammizabad his son. ^6
7 The fourth _captain_ for the fourth month _was_ Asahel the brother of Joab, and Zebadiah his son after him: and in his course _were_ twenty-four thousand. ^7
8 The fifth captain for the fifth month _was_ Shamhuth the Izrahite: and in his course _were_ twenty-four thousand. ^8
9 The sixth _captain_ for the sixth month _was_ Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite: and in his course _were_ twenty-four thousand. ^9
10 The seventh _captain_ for the seventh month _was_ Helez the Pelonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his course _were_ twenty-four thousand. ^10
11 The eighth _captain_ for the eighth month _was_ Sibbecai the Hushathite, of the Zarhites: and in his course _were_ twenty-four thousand. ^11
12 The ninth _captain_ for the ninth month _was_ Abiezer the Anetothite, of the Benjamites: and in his course _were_ twenty-four thousand. ^12
13 The tenth _captain_ for the tenth month _was_ Maharai the Netophathite, of the Zarhites: and in his course _were_ twenty-four thousand. ^13
14 The eleventh _captain_ for the eleventh month _was_ Benaiah the Pirathonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his course _were_ twenty-four thousand. ^14
15 The twelfth _captain_ for the twelfth month _was_ Heldai the Netophathite, of Othniel: and in his course _were_ twenty-four thousand. ^15
16 ¶ Furthermore over the tribes of Israel: the ruler of the Reubenites _was_ Eliezer the son of Zichri: of the Simeonites, Shephatiah the son of Maachah: ^16
17 Of the Levites, Hashabiah the son of Kemuel: of the Aaronites, Zadok: ^17
18 Of Judah, Elihu, _one_ of the brethren of David: of Issachar, Omri the son of Michael: ^18
19 Of Zebulun, Ishmaiah the son of Obadiah: of Naphtali, Jerimoth the son of Azriel: ^19
20 Of the children of Ephraim, Hoshea the son of Azaziah: of the half tribe of Manasseh, Joel the son of Pedaiah: ^20
21 Of the half _tribe_ of Manasseh in Gilead, Iddo the son of Zechariah: of Benjamin, Jaasiel the son of Abner: ^21
22 Of Dan, Azareel the son of Jeroham. These _were_ the princes of the tribes of Israel. ^22
23 ¶ But David took not the number of them from twenty years old and under: because the LORD had said he would increase Israel like to the stars of the heavens. ^23
24 Joab the son of Zeruiah began to number, but he finished not, because there fell wrath for it against Israel; neither was the number put in the account of the chronicles of king David. ^24
25 ¶ And over the king's treasures _was_ Azmaveth the son of Adiel: and over the storehouses in the fields, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the castles, _was_ Jehonathan the son of Uzziah: ^25
26 And over them that did the work of the field for tillage of the ground _was_ Ezri the son of Chelub: ^26
27 And over the vineyards _was_ Shimei the Ramathite: over the increase of the vineyards for the wine cellars _was_ Zabdi the Shiphmite: ^27
28 And over the olive trees and the sycomore trees that _were_ in the low plains _was_ Baal-hanan the Gederite: and over the cellars of oil _was_ Joash: ^28
29 And over the herds that fed in Sharon _was_ Shitrai the Sharonite: and over the herds _that_ _were_ in the valleys _was_ Shaphat the son of Adlai: ^29
30 Over the camels also _was_ Obil the Ishmaelite: and over the asses _was_ Jehdeiah the Meronothite: ^30
31 And over the flocks _was_ Jaziz the Hagerite. All these _were_ the rulers of the substance which _was_ king David's. ^31
32 Also Jonathan David's uncle was a counseller, a wise man, and a scribe: and Jehiel the son of Hachmoni _was_ with the king's sons: ^32
33 And Ahithophel _was_ the king's counseller: and Hushai the Archite _was_ the king's companion: ^33
34 And after Ahithophel _was_ Jehoiada the son of Benaiah, and Abiathar: and the general of the king's army _was_ Joab. ^34
